Austin law enforcement officials have identified the pedestrian who died after getting by car on Cameron Road last October 3rd.

The victim was named as 58-year-old Mauricio Garcia, Austin police said.

According to initial reports, Garcia was attempting to cross the northbound lane of Cameron Road, just north of US 290, at around 9:50 p.m. Meanwhile, a passing white Ford F-150 pickup truck, traveling along the northbound lanes, struck Garcia, leaving him with fatal injuries. The emergency crews immediately responded to the scene only to pronounce the pedestrian deceased. No one else was injured from the crash.

It was not immediately determined if the driver of the pickup truck will be facing charges.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.

Garcia’s death is Austin’s 66th traffic death so far this year, local police said.
