Austin – Motorcycle Crash on Burnet Road

Austin law enforcement officials have released the name of the victim who died in a fatal motorcycle collision on Burnet Road last November 18th.

The fatality was identified as Matthew James Almasi.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., local officials were dispatched at the 5800 block of Burnet Road in response to a call reporting a crash. According to the report, a motorcycle had been traveling along the roadway when it crashed into a minivan that was attempting to make a turn. The force of the impact ejected the operator of the bike, Matthew Almasi, from the motorcycle, leaving him fatally injured. Almasi was later transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

No one else was injured.

Based on the investigation, the motorcyclist was traveling at an unsafe speed at the time of the accident.
