Austin – Three-Car Crash on Interstate 35

A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 caused the death of one person in south Austin last October 17th.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred at around 11:32 a.m. at the intersection of the frontage road and Stassney lane. A white Toyota Sienna van was heading north towards Stassney when it collided with a brown Chevrolet van and a white Nissan Altima. Police said both vehicles were heading west and had they green light when they entered the intersection. When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found the Toyota on a barrier with significant damages on its front end. They said it crashed into the Chevrolet and the driver’s side of the Nissan.

The Toyota driver and his passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The passenger later succumbed to her injuries. She was identified as Lydia Quintanilla.
