73-year-old Miguel Pantoja Carrillo was pronounced deceased after getting struck by a city-owned vehicle on Alameda Avenue last Thursday.

At around 10:30 a.m., Carillo was seen walking across Alameda Avenue near Harris Street when a City of El Paso Environmental Services pickup truck failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian, resulting in a collision. According to police, the victim was using the designated crosswalk and had the green light when the pickup truck made a turn and struck him.

Emergency crews immediately took Carillo to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No one else was injured, as per reports.

Police did not indicate they had issued any citations in the incident and said it remained under investigation.
