Hardin County law enforcement officials named the person who died in a fatal car accident on Farm to Market Road 420, late Saturday night.

The fatality was identified as 55-year-old Charles Edward Groze Jr. of Kountze. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Chris Ingram at the scene.

According to the initial investigation, a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading west on FM 420 when, for reasons that had not yet been determined yet, it drifted off the roadway and landed on the ditch. When the driver, Charles Groze Jr., attempted to go back into the road, he lost control of the car which caused the pickup truck to overturn a number of times. The truck then landed on is side. Groze died at the scene.

Two passengers in the car were sent to St. Elizabeth hospital where they received treatment of their injuries. Authorities said their injury appeared to be non-life threatening.
