Houston – Sunday Morning Collision on West 34th Street Leaves One Dead

A vehicular accident involving a drunk driver took place on West 34th Street in north Houston, early Sunday morning.

According to initial reports, the incident happened at the 1300 block of W. 34th Street just after midnight. A white Toyota Tundra was attempting to make a turn from Golf Drive when, for yet unknown reasons, it was struck by a black pickup truck. The force of the impact trapped the Toyota driver inside the wreckage. He was extricated and rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased a few moments later.

The driver of the black pickup, identified as Bayron Cruz, was arrested. He is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

Authorities has not released the identification of the deceased victim as of this writing.

An investigation is underway.
