Lufkin – Pedestrian Killed in Texas 287 Crash Identified

The woman who got struck by a car on Texas 287 Loop last Thursday has been identified but Lufkin law enforcement officials.

According to reports, the victim was identified as 65-year-old Linda Cortines. Initial investigation indicates that Cortines was attempting to cross TX 287, near the cross street with Frank Avenue, when a passing car struck her. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they transported Cortines to the nearest hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the car rendered aid to the victim and waited for responding officers to arrive. He was identified as 26-year-old Matthew Battise. It was not confirmed if Battise will be facing charges as the investigation is still in progress.
