The woman who was killed in a fatal car accident on Dupont Drive last Monday, has been identified by local authorities, reports said.

The fatality was identified as 41-year-old Dana Barnes.

According to the initial investigation, Barnes was driving an undescribed car along Dupont Dr near Adams Bayou when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, she drove into the oncoming traffic where she collided with a pickup truck. The impact of the crash seriously injured Barnes. She was declared deceased by emergency crews.

No one else was injured.

Orange Police Department is still determining the reason why Barnes lost control of the car and drifted into the opposing lanes. The crash remains under investigation.
