Richards – School Bus Crashed on FM 149

Several people were hospitalized after a school bus carrying a football team crashed on Farm to Market Road 149, just west of New Waverly, Thursday.

According to Richards police, the incident took place at around 4:00 p.m. on FM 149 near Farm to Market Road 1791, also known as Bethel Road. A Hunstville ISD school bus was on their way to a game when, for reasons that had not been determined, it went out of control and overturned. The bus came to rest and ended up on its side.

The impact of the crash injured seven students and the driver. They were sent to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe at Conroe Regional Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately disclosed. Meanwhile, 13 more students and two adults were taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure.”
