A fatal vehicle accident involving a drunk driver caused the death of one person on Interstate 35, early Friday morning.

At around 3:00 a.m., San Antonio local police responded to the 14600 block of Interstate 35 North after receiving a call reporting a crash. Initial investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it crashed into the barrier and continued on for a hundred yards. A few moments later, a passing vehicle struck the rear side of the stalled car, ejecting its driver in the process. He then landed on the roadway where he was ran over by a number of vehicles.

The driver, whose identity has yet to be released, was already lifeless when emergency crews arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver who struck the victim’s vehicle has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
