Smith County – Shane Simmons Pronounced Deceased in CR 285 Collision

A 56-year-old Whitehouse woman was killed after getting involved in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 284 in Smith County.

The fatality was identified as Shane Simmons, 56, of Whitehouse.

According to police reports, Simmons was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck along the westbound lane of CR 285 when a trailer towed by a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck suddenly began to sway and struck her truck. Simmons died from the injuries she sustained from the impact of the crash. Her passenger, who was identified as Taylor Dawn Patterson, 23, of Lindale, sustained undisclosed injuries and was rushed to UT Health-Tyler. She was listed in stable condition.

The driver of the other pickup truck was identified as Eric Golembeck, 43, of Tyler. He was not hurt.

No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
